According to The Hill Jeff Session, the Attorney General, asks for the resignation of all the remaining attorneys who have been holding over from the Obama administration. 46 of a total of 93 US attorneys are the remains of the Obama administration through out the country and territories.
In order to ensure the smooth and uniform transition Sessions has asked for their resignation. A Department of Justice spokesperson said, “As was the case in prior transitions, many of the United States Attorneys nominated by the previous administration already have left the Department of Justice.”
The Department of Justice has promised a smooth process of transition. It states:
“Until the new U.S. Attorneys are confirmed, the dedicated career prosecutors in our U.S. Attorney’s Offices will continue the great work of the Department in investigating, prosecuting, and deterring the most violent offenders.”
It was announced on Friday, it also throws light on President’s concern about Obama era attorneys whose actions have not been pointed against or in-favor-of the White House. Sessions’ announcement is aimed at ensuring the process of transition smoothly.
